Additional Superannuation Guarantee Contributions

This would apply when more than the base super guarantee percentage is contributed to an employee's superannuation fund and the additional contribution is to be separated from the base superannuation guarantee.

From the Employee view, navigate to the Pay Components > Superannuation. Choose Additional Superannuation from the drop down menu and fill in the rest of the details in the box provided.

Once the Additional Superannuation Component is assigned, enter the TOTAL percentage contribution value to the 'Manual Rate' field in decimal format

E.g. Total SGC contribution rate is 15% = 0.15 (9.5% Base + 4.5% Additional)

Please note this screenshot is based on FY 20-22 or 9.5%. Please refer to ATO Super Guarantee Percentage Rates for the rate at the time you are referring to this article.

If using a manual rate for additional superannuation these MUST be reviewed updated manually each FY upon government mandated super contribution percentage increases

Review the pay packet to ensure the value is calculating as expected. Note that the superannuation contribution value is separated into two values

  • Superannuation Employer Contribution Value of contribution based super guarantee percentage at a given FY

  • Additional Superannuation Value of contribution based on all superannuation over and above super guarantee percentage at a given FY
