Commencement Date

Employers must report employees' commencement date. If employer does not know their employees commencement date, then must report a default date of 01/01/1800.

When employee is transferred or rehired , the commencement date you report after the transfer or rehire depends on the way you have processed it in DataPay.

If only moving the employee to a different combination of ABN and branch, the commencement date to report is the start of the employment relationship. If this is unavailable, report the date you recognise for prior service. DataPay reports commencement date based on input by employer

E.G if Fruity Fresh was the transfer of business from the previous owner where the payee had started work on 10/03/2014 but agreed to transfer over on 09/06/2015, doing transferring work, the earlier service may be recognised.

Commencement date would be 10/03/2014.

However the above commencement date may differ when :

  • Break in service

  • Leave without pay

  • No recognition of prior service

  • death beneficiary

Note : DataPay reports commencement date based on input by employer.

If the payee is a death beneficiary then there commencement date should be 01/01/1800.
