There are some common reporting issues and errors that can affect your ability to submit your Single Touch Payroll (STP) report correctly and/or affect your employees' year-to-date (YTD) information in myGov. This page provides general guidance on the following STP issues and errors:

  1. New Allowance Error

The ATO will only accept the new allowance categories on STP jobs from customers who are reporting STPv2.

If any of the 3 new allowance categories introduced as part of STPv2 is reported through data cleansing and the STP 2 is not enabled, the STP job will fail to generate.

Please delay data cleansing and transitioning onto the 3 new allowance categories post enablement of STP 2.

2. STP Income Country Code Error

The ATO will only accept STP Income Country code for the 3 STP Income Stream types from customers who are reporting STPv2.

  • Foreign employment income (FEI)

  • Inbound assignees to Australia (IAA)

If any of the 3 STP Income Stream types introduced as part of STPv2 is reported through data cleansing and the STP 2 is not enabled, the STP job will fail to generate.

4. General Ledger review

If clients are updating component attributes they may need to review the components which have been updated as changes to a component set up may lead to components being declassified from GL set up.
