STP Paid Leave

Business Definition

Leave Paid should be reported separately through and identified dependent on paid leave employee has taken. The types of paid leave employers are required to report include:

  • other paid leave ( type O )- unless they are included in one of the other paid leave types. It includes many common types of payments relating to leave such as annual leave, leave loading, long service leave, and personal/carer's  leave, RDO ( Rostered Day Off ), TOIL ( Time taken and paid at ordinary time ), compassionate and bereavement leave, study leave, family and domestic violence's leave, special paid leave, gardening leave, birthday leave etc. Note when making back payment of other leave it maybe reported as Other Paid Leave.

  • ancillary and defense leave ( type A )- employees who are paid leave that engage in activities such as jury service, service with local fire or emergency authorities, or service in the Australian Defence Force. Note when making back payment of ancillary and defence leave it maybe reported as Paid Ancillary and Defense Leave.

  • cash out of leave in service ( type C )- employees paid out leave entitlements in lieu of taking leave. Note : If when making a back payment or arrears payment, it may be included in cash out of leave in service.

Cash out of TOIL and Annual Leave Loading clearly linked to “loss of overtime” must be reported as overtime.

  • workers' compensation ( type W ) - any workers’ compensation payments made to an injured employee. It includes payments for the hours not worked (or not attending work as required) or if the employment has been terminated. Note when making back payment of workers' compensation it maybe reported as Paid Workers' Compensation Leave.

  • paid parental leave ( type P ) - all types of parental leave e.g Government paid parental leave and employer paid parental leave must be reported separately. Note when making back payment of parental leave it maybe reported as Paid Parental Leave.

Do not report bonuses that are paid as an inducement for the employee to return to work from parental leave as paid parental leave - this payment should be reported as bonuses and commissions.

  • unused leave types ( type U ) - payments made to employees for unused leave on termination.

Excludes Lump sum A, Lump sum B and ETP leave payments.

Other Paid Leave (O)

The is reported as any component under the leave taken component category excluding parental leave, workers' compensation payments and ancillary leave.

 

Component Setup > Drop Down > Select Leave

 

Ancillary and Defense Leave (A)

This is reported under leave taken component taken.

Component Setup > Drop Down > Select Leave Taken

Additional notes: ancillary values are identified via the Ancillary Leave Payment attribute. Currently “Jury Duty Service” (494A) component under Leave Taken component category already has this attribute attached to it.

Leave Cash Out (C)

All the standard cash out components have been set up to report as cash out of leave in service (C).

Cash out of TOIL Leave Payment

Cash out of TOIL must be reported as STP Overtime.

Workers' Compensation (W)

All of the standard Workers' compensation components have been set up to report as workers' compensation payments. There two sets of workers compensation payments named Workers Compensation and Workers Compensation By State. Either set of components will work but we recommend using Workers Compensation by State as it contains specific logic about leave accrual by state.

Paid Parental Leave (P)

Components will report under parental under one of two conditions:

1: The component outputs Parental Leave Payment attribute, or

2: The leave taken component has set the parental leave flag to yes

Unused Leave (U)

All of the standard termination payment components will report under unused leave.
