Keeping in Touch - Parental Leave Days
In line with legislation under the Parental Leave Employment Protection Act of 1987 (Amendment to Act 2016 No.8), under section 71CE an employee is able to complete work at their place of employment if he or she performs less than 64 hours or fewer of paid work during their parental leave, and the work does not take place within 28 days of the birth of the child.
For employees who are using their Keeping in Touch days, the component 'Ordinary Pay – Extra Hours' can be applied which will not affect the employee's Parental Leave taken and will still pay the employee for any hours worked.
Please note that there are no restrictions in DataPay that will prevent an employee from being paid more than 40 hours under this scheme, and is the responsibility of the employer to maintain.
This component is able to be located via the pay packet in the Add Component button, under the Payments Category (as below). The display name of the component can be renamed before being added to the pay packet if you wish. The hours added into the pay packet will not reduce the Parental Leave taken.
If you do not have this component available, the DataPay Support Team can help you locate a suitable alternative.
