KiwiSaver Savings Suspension

Note: KiwiSaver Contribution Holiday was renamed to KiwiSaver Savings Suspension by the IRD in April 2019. The functionality has not changed.

An employee may take a KiwiSaver Savings Suspension once they have been a KiwiSaver member for 12 months or more. This change can be made in DataPay via the Employee KiwiSaver Pay Component.

Once you have the desired employee selected, navigate to the Employee tab > Pay Components screen in the ribbon. Select the KiwiSaver pay component, and modify the Savings Suspension combo box to the desired value, making sure to enter the correct effective date for the change before saving.

Typically, the notice from the IRD will also include an end date to the Savings Suspension. To set the end date for the current value, simply set the newly changed value back to No, with the correct effective date. This will automatically end date the current value to the day before the new value.
