Intro to Tim Hogan - new Director of Datapay

EROAD’s former CTO Tim Hogan has joined Datacom as Datapay Director last month and is looking forward to being part of a business that provides such a critical service for other organisations.

Tim says, “People are the beating heart of every business and trusted payroll is the ultimate essential service. I am delighted to join Australasia's leading tech team, helping customers stay competitive and flexible as they grow and manage today's increasingly complex workforce.”
Tim brings great expertise and experience to Datapay and is well positioned to help Datacom achieve our objectives for steep growth in Australia and New Zealand, while at the same time modernising our core platform, building rewarding careers for our people and empowering our customers to embrace the future of work.

Managing leave over the holidays with Datacom

Leave leakage is an invisible cost which may be affecting your business. This is when a salaried employee is absent and the leave is not recorded, resulting in the leave liability not being reduced and the employee getting a paid day off.

There can be high risk of this happening during holiday periods because staff absences are normal and there is seldom an audit of the approved leave against absences.
A good payroll system can minimise or eliminate leave leakage. One of the best things you can do is to provide employees with both a user-friendly payroll portal and a mobile app. Our employee web self-service portal is called Direct Access, which works in conjunction with our very popular MyPay phone app. Employees are able to submit leave requests when the leave is taking place instead of waiting until they are back in the office. Doing so reduces the chance of leave being forgotten resulting in employees being paid as though they had worked and not actually reducing the company leave liability.
