Datacom Payroll Press - September 2022 Issue

Welcome to the third Payroll Press of 2022 where we bring you all you need to know about Payroll.

This time around we have the latest on the Holidays Act Review, we show you how we keep your data safe, and feature a spotlight on Datapay’s GM of Customer and Managed Services.

We hope you enjoy this edition.

Holidays Act Review

The payroll community has been waiting in anticipation for the outcome of the Holidays Act review that the government started in 2018. The Holidays Act Taskforce came up with 22 recommendations to make the Act clearer and provide more certainty for employers. You can read more on the Ministry website.

The recommendations are currently going through a detailed design process with a range of stakeholders including policy, payroll practitioners, payroll system providers and regulators with an aim to have legislation drafted for review in 2023 before going through the legislative process to turn it into law.

At this stage we do not anticipate any changes coming into effect until some time in 2024 so we have a while to wait yet. Datacom is monitoring the progress of this work very closely and the impact it will have on Datapay. When there is more certainty we will share how we intend to implement the new rules and the real work will begin!

Intro to Joseph Paki, General Manager

Joseph Paki joined Datacom in 2001 and has been instrumental in both managing and driving our Professional Services team for the last 7 years.

With strong demand for Datacom’s payroll services and significant growth, Joseph has moved into a new role of "General Manager - Customer and Managed Services" and shifted his focus to our EasiPay, DataPay and Learning teams earlier this year.

Initiatives are already underway to improve the processes and tooling for these teams, as well as exploring how we can expand the services we offer to our clients.

Joseph is passionate about customer satisfaction and the continuous growth of our service delivery model, and we are excited to see what changes are coming for the remainder of 2022 and into 2023.

How Datacom keeps your data safe

Your data and information are important to us. Here are some ways Datacom protects your information assets:

  • Datacom PaySystems’ information security management system (ISMS) is effective, robust, and certified by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO/IEC 27001: 2013) — the largest developer of voluntary international standards. To achieve this certification, our ISMS goes through a vigorous annual external audit to ensure our approach and standards evolve to deal with the ever-increasing threats to information security

  • The Datacom security team issue a daily security report to communicate the latest cybersecurity threats and information

  • Datacom performs regular website and network vulnerability scans to identify vulnerabilities and inventory actionable remedies

  • External security specialists conduct penetration testing on our payroll services.

For Datacom Payroll specifically we have the International Standard on Assurance Engagements (ISAE) compliant (ISAE3402) audit report, and the Pay Systems ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certificate.

If you would like a copy of either please touch base with your usual Datacom contact. Noting that due to the nature of the content, we will require you to have in place a current Master Services Agreement with a confidential information section, or alternatively sign a Confidentiality Agreement.
