MFA - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Below are some of the more common questions you as a Payroll Administrator may have regarding how Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) works within DataPay, or questions your employees may ask you surrounding how this works with their user accounts and mobile devices.
Question | Answer |
---|---|
What happens if I plan to change my phone? | Users should de-register their current device before discarding it by contacting their Payroll Administrator. |
How does Single Sign On (SSO) affect MFA? | MFA does not affect Direct Access / ESS login if they are already logging in via SSO. MFA will only affect users who login to the DataPay application. |
There is the option to use either MyPay or 3rd party authenticator app as the authentication method. Which option should I choose if I predominantly log in to MyPay. | We would recommend using MyPay as your authenticator to streamline the process. MyPay will not ask users for MFA if this is the authenticator option chosen. |
What authentication applications can I use? | All authenticator apps are compatible (e.g. Authy or Microsoft Authenticator) |
Does it work the same if I am using Touch ID? | If you are using an authenticator application other than MyPay, you will still need to execute MFA to log in. |
If I use an authenticator app as my authenticator, when I log in to MyPay it requests a code. I need to remember my code and go back to the MyPay app to enter it. Can I copy and paste it? | No, you must remember the 6-digit code if you have opted to use a 3rd party authenticator app. Therefore it is best to use MyPay as the authenticator app to streamline the process. |
What happens if I -re-install the MyPay app? | Contact your administrator to reset your MFA setup. |
As a Payroll Administrator, how do I reset an employee MFA setup? | Head to the Company tab → Company Users ->right click on their user → Edit Two Factor Authentication → either Reset MyPay Login or Authenticator Login |
