The following provides information on the Attributes available for selection when creating new components, and a brief description of each.
Available attributes will change depending on which type of Allowance is selected to be created.
ACC Levies
Attribute | Description |
---|---|
Liable for ACC Levy | The value of all payments with this attribute are included in the Liable Earnings in the ACC Premium reports and are liable for Company ACC Levy. |
Liable for EP | The value of all payments with this attribute are used to calculate the Earner Premium in the PAYE component (Subject to Employee ACC Earner Levy). |
Not Liable for EP | Earnings excluded from the Earner Premium calculation in the PAYE component. |
Cost Reporting
Attribute | Description |

Group A Allowances | Allowances marked with this attribute will appear in the Group A Allowances column in the Departmental Cost Report & Cost by Code Report |
Group B Allowances | Allowances marked with this attribute will appear in the Group B Allowances column in the Departmental Cost Report & Cost by Code Report |
Leave Pay | Allowances marked with this attribute will appear in the Other Leave column in the Departmental Cost Report & Cost by Code Report |
Ordinary Pay | Allowances marked with this attribute will appear in the Ordinary Earnings column in the Departmental Cost Report & Cost by Code Report |
Overtime Pay | Allowances marked with this attribute will appear in the Overtime Earnings column in the Departmental Cost Report & Cost by Code Report |
New Allowances
Attribute | Description |

Never Suppress Allowance | Allowances marked with this attribute will never be suppressed in a pay packet, even if there are no Ordinary Earnings. |
Leave Rates
Attribute | Description |
---|---|
Average Daily Pay Earnings | Amounts included in the ADP Qualifying Earnings column in the Historic Leave Earning Screen, and is included in the 52 week ADP rate calculation where relevant daily pay cannot be determined. |
Holiday Earnings | Amounts included in the Annual Leave Qualifying Earnings column in the Historic Leave Earning Screen, and contributes to the 52 week Annual Leave calculation. |
Ordinary Pay Rate Earnings | Value of regular additional allowances that should be included in the calculation of the Annual Leave Liability OWP rate. |
Ordinary Weekly Pay Earnings | Included in the 4 week Annual Leave rate calculation where the Ordinary Weekly Pay cannot be determined. |
Specified Hours
Attribute | Description |

Actual Ordinary Hours | Used by service allowances to get the amount of specified hours. |
Actual Overtime Hours | Used by service allowances to get the amount of specified hours. |
Extended Leave Hours | Where this attribute is specified, the service allowance's Specified Hours will include any leave hours taken in the pay packet. |
Extended Overtime Hours | Where this attribute is specified, the service allowance's Specified Hours will include the extended overtime hours taken in the pay packet. For example, if overtime is paid at a factor of 1.5 and 8 hours of overtime was paid out, the extended hours = 12. |
Holiday Hours | Where this attribute is specified, the service allowance's Specified Hours will include any annual leave hours taken in the pay packet. |
Leave Hours | Where this attribute is specified, the service allowance's Specified Hours will include any leave hours taken in the pay packet. |
Ordinary Hours | When a payment is marked with this attribute, the component will include these hours in the calculation. |
Overtime Hours | When a payment is marked with this attribute, the component will include these hours in the calculation. |
Sick Hours | Where this attribute is specified, the service allowance's Specified Hours will include any sick hours taken in the pay packet. |
Unpaid Hours | Where this attribute is specified, the service allowance's Specified Hours will include any unpaid leave hours taken in the pay packet. |
Tax

Alt Rate 2 | Allowances marked with this attribute will be paid at the Alt Pay Rate 2 rate. |
Basic Pay Rate | Allowances marked with this attribute will be paid at the employee's Basic Hourly Rate. |
Liable for KiwiSaver | The total value of all payments and allowances marked with this attribute is used to calculate KiwiSaver deductions & contributions. |
QES Ordinary Earnings | Allowances marked with this attribute will be included in Quarterly Employment Survey Report for Ordinary Earnings columns. |
Superable Allowance | Allowances marked with this attribute will be included in the calculation of the percentage of earnings benefit or deduction components and is relevant where the option is Fixed Plus Superable Allowances. |
Superable Earnings | The total value of all payments and allowances marked with this attribute is used to calculate the percentage of earnings deductions & contributions. |
Min Hol Rate | Used to calculate the rates at which to pay service allowances. For some leave payment types, also used as the rate to pay that leave at. (Basic Hourly Rate option chose and min hol rate > basic pay rate). |
Value at Period End | Uses only the value at the period end date where the payment is split. An example of a split is a rate change mid period. |

Alt Rate X | Select where the Alternative Pay Rate X for the employee is to be used instead of Basic Hourly Rate. |
Elapsed Ordinary Hours | Used to calculate the proportion of time on leave, which is a comparison between the hours of leave taken and the hours normally worked. The Proportional Accrual also uses these hours to calculate the accrual. |
Liable for KiwiSaver | The total value of all payments and allowances marked with this attribute is used to calculate KiwiSaver deductions & contributions. |
Normal Payment | Used for allowance suppression. If any payments with this attribute are in a pay packet, an allowance will not be suppressed. |
QES Ordinary Earnings | Used to mark any component that will be in QES Report for Ordinary earnings columns. |
Superable Earnings | When a payment is marked with this attribute, the component will include this payment in the calculation when working out the amount of contribution. |
