Applying Termination Packages

The employee is only terminated once the termination package has been applied.

Termination packages can only be applied to a main pay run where the termination date is within the pay period.

Steps on how to open a pay run can be found in the Open a Pay Run article.

To determine which termination packages are available to apply to the pay run you do either of the following, as highlighted below.

  • Right click on any pay packet and click Select Termination payments for this Pay Run.

  • Select Apply Termination Payments.

If a termination package is able to be applied to the pay run, it will be automatically selected. If it hasn’t been selected, you cannot apply it.

Select Next once you have determined which you want to include.

Termination packages can be applied into either a manual or main pay packet.

  • Manual - Creates a separate payslip to the employee's standard pay.

  • Main - Includes the termination in the same payslip as their standard pay.

When you select Finish, any errors and/or warnings will be displayed. You can proceed with warnings but not errors.

Main pay packets cannot be created in a manual pay run.

You can only apply termination packages into main pay runs. If the main pay run has already been processed, you’ll have to apply the termination manually.
