Creating a New Deduction
All companies are provided with an initial number of pre-configured deductions upon creation, which is enough to process a basic pay run.
If you require additional copies of existing deductions, or require a deduction component with a different attribute build, you will need to create these using our component creator tool.

To open the component creator tool, navigate to the Company tab > Component Setup > Create New Deduction.
Select the Deduction Type by highlighting the one you wish to use. This dictates the attributes you will have available to select from in the following step.
Select the Output Attributes by ticking the box next to the attribute name. Once a valid combination of attributes is selected, the 'Incomplete..' text will be removed and the 'Next' button will become active.
Enter the name for the new deduction. Entering a code is optional, if you do not DataPay will assign one for you. You can use the Add button to create more than one component using the same attributes.
Double-check your attribute selection. If everything is correct, create the component by finishing the wizard.
If you use a General Ledger, you will also need to add this into the Cost Category Set otherwise it will end up in suspense. If you are unsure of this process, please follow our guide on Adding Components to a Cost Category Set.
