Overview

As companies grow through acquisitions and mergers, they inherit the pay groups, processing timelines and schedules of the other business.
Pay groups are portions of your organization that you can group together for the purpose of payment processing or a group of employees that share a common pay date, frequency and or method.
This allows you to sort your employees in various demographics and pay them out of different pay groups but is still under the same company.
A new pay group can be created for your existing employees or for employees brought over from different entity.
Note that change in your current pay cycle date is not as easy as just changing the date. If the payroll dates (pay frequency, period end date) is to be updated, this is done by creation of a new pay group and transferring the employees over.
